그것은 권력을 향한 단순한 욕망과는 다른 지점을 가리키고 있었다. 그에게 대통령은 권력이 아닌, 아버지의 유업을 이어받는 ‘가업’에 가까워 보였다. 그래서였을까. 대통령을 ’되려고 하면 되는’ 것쯤으로 인식하는 그의 발언은 민주주의 사회에서 생경하게만 다가왔다. 시대를 막론한 그의 당당함에 감히 꽃을 달아드리고 싶었다.
It pointed to something beyond a mere desire for power. To him, the presidency seemed less like political authority and more like a 'family business'—an inheritance of his father’s legacy. Perhaps that was why his remarks, which treated becoming president as something one could do simply "if one willed it," felt so strikingly alien in a democratic society. His brazen confidence, transcending time itself, almost made me want to pin a flower on him.
